Problem Description:
The user received the VXDIAG VCX Nano for Toyota cable and installed Techstream 18.00.008 software on a Windows 10 laptop. When attempting to program a spare smart key for a 2022 Lexus NX350h, the Techstream software requested a pass-code.
Key Issue:
- Newer Toyota models include an additional security component, making it challenging to add keys diagnostically unless you have the specific pass-code.
- These rolling codes change every time the device is plugged in. The pass-code can either be purchased online or bypassed using specialized tools.
Solutions:
1. Best Option: Techstream Subscription
- Use Techstream with a subscription through NASTF.
- Subscription costs:
- Two-day subscription: $65, which provides one free key code.
- Annual subscription: $1,295, allowing unlimited key code retrieval.
- Procedure:
- After subscribing, wait approximately 30 minutes to receive a confirmation email.
- Log into the NASTF website to retrieve the key code.
2. Quick Option: Read the Door Lock Cylinder
- Remove the driver’s door lock cylinder, where the key code is stamped.
- This method is faster as it avoids waiting for the email confirmation.
3. Bypass the Seed Code
- If bypassing the seed code, only the “Add Key” function will be available. You cannot perform “All Keys Lost” or “Generate Smart Key” operations.
- Steps:
- First, reset the immobilizer system (Immo Reset).
- Then, return to the system to add the new key.
