VXDIAG JLR SDD V165 V164 Network Connection Issues and Possible Solutions

Recently, some users have encountered network connection issues after updating their JLR SDD software from version V164 to V165. Below is a detailed explanation of the problems:

Issue 1:

After upgrading from SDD version V164 to V165, users report the software can no longer connect to the server. In version V164, the network connection icon appeared green, indicating a successful connection. However, after updating to V165, the icon remains red, even when the computer shows a stable internet connection, preventing the software from establishing a connection.

Issue 2:

While JLR SDD version V165 installs correctly and allows users to log in, it fails to connect online for downloading “as-built” or calibration files, even with available patches. Users experience difficulties activating the network, and the network status in the software consistently shows no connection.

VXDIAG Analysis:

As of September 1, 2024, JLR has implemented stricter security protocols on their servers. Consequently, any version of SDD prior to 165.00 can no longer download calibration files. JLR has also clarified that the network connection icon is not the definitive indicator of server connectivity, and users are advised to verify the connection through the software settings.

Additionally, JLR SDD version V165 blocks all known patches, preventing users from accessing online features via workarounds. This version also cuts off online access for all offline versions of the SDD software, forcing users to rely on online services to download necessary calibration files. Another complication arises with the kvms (virtual memory), as files are deleted from the vbf directory after a flash update, requiring users to download them online every time. To avoid this, it is recommended to set existing vbf files to "read-only" to prevent deletion.

Additional Information:

Some users have reported that while SDD version 165 fails to connect on Windows 7 systems, it works correctly on Windows 10 when using the V164 patch, allowing access to the download features.

Moreover, users running SDD version 165 on VMware have reported no issues with network connectivity, suggesting that VMware may offer a viable alternative solution.
