DoIP Firmware Recovery

 

If the DoIP system fails to start due to an abnormal reason, you can attempt to recover the DoIP firmware.

This process is only applicable to devices such as VCX-PLUS and VCX-SE that contain the DoIP system.

Conditions to Determine DoIP System Abnormalities:

 

  • 25 seconds after the device starts, you do not hear the second beep sound from the buzzer.
  • 25 seconds after the device starts, the wireless LED indicator does not light up or blink.
  • 25 seconds after the device starts, you cannot find the device "DoIP-VCI-XXXX" in the wireless network search.
  • 25 seconds after the device starts, VX Manager cannot connect to or read the device information.

Entering Firmware Recovery Mode:

 

Disconnect all connections to the device (no power) and follow these steps to enter firmware recovery mode:

VCX PLUS Firmware Recovery Mode

 

  1. Insert a pin-like tool into the recovery hole and press down without releasing.

  2. Connect the device to the computer via USB to power it on again.

  3. Release the button when you hear the relay clicking continuously and the LED starts flashing.

  4. Open the firmware recovery page.

  5. In the browser's address bar, enter and open the firmware recovery page: http://192.168.8.1

  6. Select the firmware file.

The default DoIP firmware file is located at:
C:\Program Files\VCX\Manager\download\openwrt.bin

If the file is not found, it can be downloaded from here.

  1. Click "Choose File" to open the firmware file selection dialog, select the "openwrt.bin" file, and click "Update firmware" to begin restoring the DoIP firmware.

  2. Firmware recovery completed. The recovery process takes about 3 minutes. The device will automatically restart upon completion.

  3. After completing the above steps, open VX Manager. If the device is successfully connected and the device information is retrieved, the recovery was successful.

VCX SE Firmware Recovery Mode

 

  1. Press and hold the Fn recovery button without releasing it.

  2. Connect the device to the computer via USB to power it on again.

  3. Release the button when you hear the relay clicking continuously and the LED starts flashing.

  4. Open the firmware recovery page. In the browser's address bar, enter and open the firmware recovery page: http://192.168.8.1

  5. Select the firmware file. The default DoIP firmware file is located at: C:\Program Files\VCX\Manager\download\openwrt.bin

  6. If the file is not found, it can be downloaded from here.

  7. Click "Choose File" to open the firmware file selection dialog, select the "openwrt.bin" file, and click "Update firmware" to start restoring the DoIP firmware.

  8. Firmware recovery completed. The recovery process takes about 1 minute. The device will automatically restart upon completion.
