Customer: I encountered an issue with the VXDIAG VCX SE JLR SDD V164 software.
When attempting to download files, I received the message: "It is essential that the software status is updated to the latest version prior to performing a vehicle module software download." The program then returned to the main page.
I tried reinstalling the software, even on two other laptops, but the same error occurred.

Some users have experienced similar issues with SDD versions 164 and 159, where even reinstalling Windows and the SDD software did not resolve the problem.
The issue appears to persist whether the software is used online or offline.
Below are two potential solutions:
I. Official Solution: The official recommendation is to apply a patch, which works for all versions.
In the SDD interface, click "Continue."
Navigate to the "Parameter" tab -> select "Manual Patch File Update."
Enter 'GCM_SDD_ICA' and click OK.
The manual patch will be installed successfully.
If you do not see the manual patch option, ensure that your Wi-Fi connection is activated in the SDD settings. To do this, go to the "Utility" tab in the SDD settings, then select the "Networking" tab. It should be the top option in the Utility tab. Activate the Wi-Fi connection, allowing SDD to access the network.
II. Customer Solution: One customer successfully resolved the issue by setting the computer's date back to 2020. After doing so, the "software status file is out of date" message no longer appeared. The module software files downloaded as expected, and this solution has been tested successfully on two vehicles. Changing the system's date and time to a few years back seems to fix the issue.
To apply this solution, open SDD, click "Continue," then adjust the system year to 2020, and continue using the software as normal.
