Problem Description:
A user shared a method for running both Techline Connect and free diagnostic software (such as Tech2win) on the same computer. Below are the steps and key points to follow:
Solution:
-
Update VXDIAG Firmware and Install License:
Update the firmware of the VXDIAG VCX Nano GM in VX Manager and install the appropriate license. Then, install the cracked version of Tech2win to load VX Manager’s passthru driver and applications like GDS2/T2W/SPS2. -
Installation Steps:
- If you only plan to use TDS software, you can install just the drivers mentioned above.
- When you install the TDS SPS software, it will overwrite the cracked GM MDI software. Upon first use of SPS, it will prompt you to install the Tech2win, MDI, and J2534 drivers. Download and install these drivers.
- Once these drivers are installed, the SPS software should be ready to use, and the passthru in VX Manager will be prepared for the SPS wrapper.
-
How to Switch Back to Cracked Software:
- If you want to go back to using the cracked software, you will need to uninstall the GM MDI and Tech2win software overwritten by TDS in the Windows “Uninstall Programs” section and reinstall the cracked version of Tech2win.
- You’ll also need to uninstall the old GDS2 and Java versions and then reinstall the cracked versions of GDS2.
-
Advantages of Using Cracked Software:
- Cracked software allows you to use the VXDIAG VCX Nano device for free without having to pay for the TDS subscription. However, once TDS software is installed, it will overwrite the cracked software and require a paid subscription.
- If you want to avoid switching back and forth, you can install the cracked software on one computer and TDS software on another, using them as needed.
About TDS Software Subscription:
- Although the TDS subscription lasts for 24 months, it is essentially valid only for flashing each module on the car once. If you replace a bad BCM module and need to flash it again, you will typically need to purchase a new subscription for that replacement.
- For vehicles from 2008 or earlier, it’s recommended to use TIS2000 as it allows unlimited flashing and doesn’t restrict the number of VINs.
Summary:
This method is a bit cumbersome, but it is the most cost-effective way to use both TDS and free diagnostic software simultaneously. If you don’t want to switch between software constantly, you can set up one computer for the cracked software and another for TDS, using them as needed.
