VXDIAG VCX NANO Volvo VIDA Tested on S40 2005 User Review

Since there is very little information available about this VXDIAG VCX NANO Volvo scanner, I am providing this article for review. I drive a 2005 Volvo S40 II.

We all know about the original Volvo VIDA DiCE. We also know about the aforementioned original Chinese clones (about 5 times cheaper, but with incomplete functionality). Now there is a brand-new VXDIAG Volvo: features (as they claim) more than the clones, and priced cheaper than the DiCE clones – so I decided to test it. I ordered it from a reputable website, www.vxdiag.com... here.

To use it, you need to install the VIDA software (it’s available in many places – 2014D, no point in discussing it as it’s been written about extensively).
So we installed VIDA 2014D, tried to open it, and proceeded further.
To use VXDIAG Volvo, you need special software: VX Manager (a program), which is free and easily downloadable from the official VXDIAG website.

Download, extract, launch. (Antivirus may pop up during the download, but everything is fine.) We connect the device.
Open the program:

open vx manager

The interface of the software looks like this. Follow the directions indicated by the arrows.

nano volvo test step

We check the tick marks next to the icons. The Passthru and Volvo VIDA drivers need to be installed.

nano volvo install step

Download them.

After completing all of this, you can explore the program further if you wish, but practically, at this stage, we don’t need it anymore.
Next, go to the car, turn on the computer, connect the VCX NANO interface to the car, open the Volvo VIDA software (as usual), but in the configuration, we select another tool!:

choose volvo passthru

Everything works fine.
In theory, this device is more convenient than the original or the Chinese version (but others may have opinions), and functionally, it is not inferior to the Chinese version by 100%! While testing the VXDIAG device, I opened (activated) a window – everything worked fine. I ran a diagnostic and cleared the errors. No problems or malfunctions were detected.

Overall, I’m very satisfied and have no complaints. I’m happy to share my experience with other users. It’s a great device!
