After watching the YouTube video, I tried purchasing the VXDIAG device and was not deceived. The official channel is very trustworthy!

But I ordered a refurbished unlock key from eBay and bought the VXDIAG device through an official channel here.

From starting the software to registering the new key, the actual process took just a few minutes. (By the way, the dealer told me that if they just programmed the key I gave them, the pre-tax price would still be about $132 because that's their hourly rate... and it only takes a few minutes!!!... It's just a rip-off.) But I did it. That's the magic - Basically, once you connect to your vehicle, choose body electronics, then the smart key clock... After that, on the left, select the utility... Choose smart code registration and follow the steps.

The steps are done within 30 seconds. Once you press the start button, just place the registered key inside the car (the new key should be a few feet away from the vehicle). Place the "master" registered key with the Toyota logo next to the start button... the car will beep once. Then remove the original key, place it outside, and bring the unregistered key into the car. Again, place the key with the Toyota logo next to the button, and it will beep twice... and you're done. Now test the car.

No big deal- A key for under $100 and a cable for under $100, and that's it.

Taking into account the tax on the $500 quote from the dealer, I saved almost $300... How can the dealer charge that much? It's insane.

I'm getting this device to program a key fob for my Subaru. It's my parents' old car, and they have a remote starter. This is the receiver, but they lost the remote fob.

So, I'm planning to order a new fob and then use this tool to program it. The car is a 2012 Legacy, and it uses a transponder key. I bought two from eBay. Everything went smoothly, so the tool has already paid for itself. Plus, it's nice that it can be used permanently.
