This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to use the GM GDS2 software to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze.
Preparation:
-
Purchase a VXDIAG device from the official website: www.vxdiag.com, then contact customer service to download the GM GDS2 software.
-
Use a Windows computer (avoid using Home edition).
-
Review the VXDIAG user manual for setup and usage instructions.
Procedure:
-
Connect the GM GDS2 interface to the vehicle and launch the GDS2 software.
-
Click "Diagnostics".
The software will now display the vehicle information, including model, year, and VIN. -
Click "Enter" to proceed.
-
Select "Vehicle Diagnostics".
-
Choose "Vehicle DTC Information".
-
Select the radio type and click "Enter" to continue.
The software will begin scanning all modules in the vehicle and retrieve any stored DTCs.
For example, you may find five DTCs stored in the Engine Control Module. -
Once the scan is complete, click into the detailed view to review each code.
You might see issues such as a high voltage signal from the intake sensor or a barometric pressure sensor fault. -
After fixing the problems related to the DTCs, click the "Clear DTCs" button to remove the stored codes.
