This guide (from vxdiag.com) offers you the simplest method to install both GDS2 and Tech2Win for the VXDIAG VCX for GM device without the need for VMware.
If you need the relevant software download link, please provide your order number and contact us via email (support@vxdiag.com) or online chat.
For GM owners, GDS2 and Tech2Win are not diagnostic tools that are required for all vehicle models; they are suited for different years and models of GM vehicles.
Tech2Win: This is a simulator of the Tech2 tool, primarily used for GM vehicles manufactured between 1996 and 2013. For vehicles produced during this time, Tech2Win is an effective diagnostic tool, capable of handling diagnostics and programming for various modules, including body, engine, and electrical systems.
GDS2 (Global Diagnostic System 2): This is GM's latest diagnostic system, designed for vehicles from 2013 onwards. It offers more advanced features, supporting programming, configuration, and diagnostics across multiple modules. GDS2, with its updated technology, allows for deeper diagnostics, especially for electrical systems, powertrains, and other modules in modern vehicles.
Therefore, if you're a GM owner or professional technician:
Open the GDS2Autoinstall folder and run GDS2Autoinstall.exe.
Run VX Manager from the desktop.
Ensure your computer has a stable network connection. Connect your device to the computer via USB and to the ECU Bench connector or your vehicle’s OBD2 port.
Click [Diagnostic], select PASSTHRU, and click [Install] to install the PASSTHRU driver.
Click [Device], then [Licenses] to check your device license. If the license has expired, feel free to contact us for a free extension.
Click [Firmware] to update the firmware.
Click [Update License] to refresh the license.
Run GDS2 from the desktop.
