Fixing GDS2 Software Launch Issues

I recently bought the VCX Nano for GM from the VXDIAG website, and I couldn’t wait to start diagnosing my vehicle. The initial setup seemed pretty simple—installing drivers, VX Manager, and the GDS2 software. Everything went smoothly until I tried opening GDS2. It just wouldn’t start. No matter how many times I tried, I kept getting an error message, and the software wouldn’t open.

At first, I thought it might be an issue with my computer, so I double-checked the system requirements—everything was fine. Then I figured maybe my antivirus was blocking it, so I disabled that too, but no luck. By this point, I was pretty frustrated since nothing seemed to work.

So, I contacted VXDIAG customer support. Luckily, they responded quickly and pointed out that I missed an important step. Apparently, to get GDS2 working with the VCX Nano, I needed to use a patch. The patch was included with the original files, but I totally overlooked it during the installation.

patch

First, I had to install a file called “dps_installer_v4_52_2000.exe.” Then, I needed to replace the "sale.dll" file in the "C:\DPS" folder with the one from the patch folder. After that, I copied the "license.bin" file into the "C:\DPS\SWL" folder. Finally, I opened the DPS software, imported the certificate, and used the provided password “Asdfghj75.” I didn’t change any other settings.

After following these steps, GDS2 finally opened! I was so relieved. The software worked smoothly, and I was able to use the tool to diagnose my GM vehicle with no further issues.
